Renewal of Trademark Protection Certificates in Vietnam

Renewing a trademark protection certificate in Vietnam involves submitting an application and completing the necessary legal procedures to extend the validity period of the trademark protection rights granted in Vietnam. Once a trademark is registered, a protection certificate is issued to the trademark owner, ensuring the exclusive right to use the trademark for 10 years from the date the application is filed.

As the protection period nears expiration, the trademark owner can submit a renewal application to continue maintaining the protection rights. This process involves submitting a renewal request dossier along with the payment of renewal fees to the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam. Once the renewal is accepted, the trademark protection rights are extended for another 10 years. This process can be repeated multiple times as long as the trademark owner continues to comply with the renewal requirements and pays the fees on time.

Timely renewal is important to ensure that the protection rights are not lost due to expiration. This helps protect the trademark from the risk of being copied or used unlawfully, while also maintaining the trademark’s position and value in the market.
